This weekend, after my shoot Saturday morning, Pate (aka the best little photography assistant EVER!!) and I took off to the bank to deposit the check, instead of depositing it all, I deposited half and cashed out half to take my little helper to breakfast and then decided I would go "yard-selling, good-willing, hospice flea marketing" to see what kind of stuffs I could find to get our room complete for inspection on the 25th!!!!! I particularly wanted a toddler bed. I have the bedroom set up with the single bed, but since we really can't decide on the age/sex thing to tell them specifically, we have to be prepared during the home inspection for any age. : O
Then when we get placed, we can put whichever we don't need into the attic storage. She just needs to see we are prepared for any age.
So...I decided to hunt for a toddler bed/mattress and if I found a super duper ridiculous deal on a crib I would pick up one of those too. Even though I am not "hoping" for a baby, and I know there are alot of people in the foster system hoping to adopt who want "the babies"....so most likely we will never get one, our hearts are still open to sibling groups and ya never know right? Especially when you let God just have His will...I am not closing doors on any possibilties. I trust Him 100%
(And not to rush anything AT.ALL but Kaylin is 19 and I was 21 when I had her, so I am figuring I am closer to be a grandma than I ever have been before, so if we get a crib and don't need it for foster care, I can set it up in mine and Joey's bedroom in several years when we do have a grand one spend the night :) )
ANYHOO..
The deals the deals the deals!!! (Photos to post tonight) : )
I got a brand new pack-n-place from Goodwill, never been used and if it has been it was the absolute cleanest toddler in the history of the WORLD!!!
and... the cutest most adorable retro straight-UP-right-out-of the 70's crib and changing table EVER!!!
The crib has a painted pink and blue puppy on the headboard and the foot board has a pony. I bought a waterproof mattress cover set of green stripped sheets that matches the stripped comforter on the single bed in that room. And the changing table, I can't even describe---it folds into a square and when you fold it out it becomes a full size changer with 8 bins underneath it...the original pad is in AMAZING condition. I Cloroxed and oxicleaned everything Saturday afternoon while Payton, Nick and Tryriq wore the dog completely out and Joey and his dad cut down trees to get more sun on our larger garden for this summer. : )
Like I said, photos tonight.
And also I bought an extra mattress for the toddler bed (that I have yet to find).
pack-n-play, crib, changing table, 2 mattresses, & bedding
All of that for UNDER $100.00!!!!!
Kaylin and I sat in the room (her old room-turned foster/baby room) and we had a long talk about it all, during which we both teared up a couple of times and I could just feel God close to us even in our conversation about it. She asked me about adoption and I told her I was just following God, and while I want to touch as many lives as possible with this, we had filled out the paperwork and definately wouldn't be opposed to adoption. However, if we did adopt I would still want to foster as well...so we may need to be finishing our attic out for more bedrooms ; )
Anyone who knows me knows I am never happier than when we have a house full of kiddos...
I am excited. Home inspection the 25th, fire department should be contacting us this week to set up their inspection.
SUPER EXCITED!!! & just can't wait to see what God does with this all! Trusting Him to lead us.
