So, as I said in the last post I went good-will hunting (haha love it when I can say that!) and thrift-shop, hospice flea market shopping. Here's everything I got minus a mattress and a pack-n-play (I didn't want to set up when I took these late last night)....and the whole room
The changing table that was $5!!! The thing I adore about this, is the way it folds up for storage if we don't need it--it will be a compact little fit in the attic.
(And the fact that it looks like it's never been used including the changing pad on top!)
And that it looks so retro!
Below: the most adorable crib, with Pink and Blue highlights, which just happens to match the comforter both Kaylin & Payton used as babies. : ) I'm not buying any more bedding (bumper guard etc) unless we actually have a baby come to stay with us. But I had to get the sheets, just to see it all put together!!!
This sweet little puppy on the header and the horse on the foot of the bed is what sold me!! How precious!! How cheap!!!
The well worn blue and pink baby bunnies comforter both my girls used as babies (and for their baby dolls later). So sweet to see it in a crib again (tears) such sweet memories. They often would argue over who's blanket it is and who would keep it "forever"---looks like mama will ; )
The single bed set up in the room ready for our first foster child. So sweet and sad at the same time.
My heart breaks for them already....and I have been praying for them daily for quite a while.
This is the room as a whole, but of course we will move out whichever bed we don't need, so it will be more room. We also have another toddler mattress underneath the single bed waiting for us to find a toddler bed...maybe this weekend : ) Plus, the couch over to the right, I'm not sure if it will stay in there or not, when Kaylin was over for mother's day we sat in this room on that couch and talked and had the best tearful conversations, this used to be her room, and now my semi-adult daughter (19) is sitting asking questions about her soon-to-be foster brother or sister and the classes and adoption and it was almost surreal that I may be starting all over again, depending on where God leads us. However, if Sarah wife of Abraham became a mom in her old age, I guess I can do it too at 40. but...
Only by the grace and strength of God, no matter how old the child who comes to stay with us is. ; )
As far as the black paint, when Kaylin moved out I couldn't stand seeing it "Kaylin pink" the color she had picked out when we moved in the house, so I immediately schemed convinced my family it would make a cool "movie/studio" room, so we painted it black for my photography studio. ; ) It's not been long painted so I'm not ready to jump on the painting band wagon just yet, so we'll see how this whole room turns out once we are placed. I went 3 different times to buy a comforter for the bed and ended up just using Kaylin's that she left when she decorated her whole house red and black.
It's hard to "buy" when you don't know what age/gender child may be coming to us.
So I decided to use this one as a base, and then let the child go shopping with me and help pick out one that they like, if it looks like they will be staying with us a while.
